Copyright protections
All e-books and audiobooks are protected from unauthorised copying to safeguard the rights of authors and publishers. The copy protection systems prevent you from using the e-books and audiobooks beyond the loan period of a maximum of 14 days. The copy protection systems are known as Digital Rights Management (DRM) and their circumvention is prohibited by law.
DRM systems can be implemented seamlessly, such as in the Libby and Onleihe mobile apps, or they may require the use of specific software, such as Adobe Digital Editions or Readium LCP, which is used by Numilog and marketed as CARE DRM by Onleihe.

The ebooks.lu offer was launched in 2015 on the initiative of the “Conseil supérieur des bibliothèques” (Higher Council for Libraries) and the National Library of Luxembourg.
The implementation of this service and its management were entrusted to the Consortium Luxembourg division and the IT division of the National Library, which work in close cooperation with the participating public libraries.
